Loved this store. Great selection of remainder books, and the person working was super nice. I left with 5 books for $31 and am kind of regretting not picking up a few more.

Now called Index Coffee and Books (horizontal no more…think vertical). Ya absolutely gotta stop in for one of the many tasty lattes and to browse for discounted books

Gem of a bookstore with unbeatable prices! 1 book is 50% off, 2 books are 60% off, and 3 or more books are 70% off. The selection is wide, varied, and very eclectic. If you're looking to happen upon a random book for your next read, I highly recommend this Ohio City treasure.

I have never left this bookstore with less than 6 books, usually average 10 actually. You can't beat the prices (70% off the cover price when purchasing 3 or more), the staff is always helpful without being at all pushy, and the atmosphere almost demands that you roam and peruse to your hearts content. Always a great selection no matter what I'm in the mood for. Horizontal Books is one of my favorite guilty pleasures.

Awesome store. Can't help it to get three or more books to take advantage of the 70% off. I get books for clients, for myself and for my kids. They are also opening up a coffee shop in the next few months. I stop by whenever I'm on the west side.

An amazing book shop with extraordinary prices. This is more of a browsing bookstore, and not a place to go if you are looking for a particular book. And there are no oversized arm chairs to sit in and read. Books are displayed on homemade horizontal shelves (hence, the name of the store). But they have an incredible selection of just about everything, including best-sellers, and I easily find dozens of books I'd like to get on every visit. They have a great teen and kid's section as well. All books are brand new. Buy 3 or more books and get 70% off the cover price. Depending on the mix (paperback vs hardcover, kids book vs larger novel), we typically spend between $5 and $8 per book.

Super cool little book store. I really love the books being horizontal, it is much less overwhelming to me this way. They have SO many books, and tons of great best sellers. The books are organized by genres looking down one way, and other genres coming from the back of the store. Prices are great too! Don't miss out on this little gem!

This place is fantastic! We found six random new books, including a crochet kit with tools and yarn, and only paid $33. It would’ve cost more for just two of the items at a regular book store. The discount is crazy. The woman at the counter was very friendly. Wish I lived closer because I’d like to come back often.

Been visiting this shop for years inconsistently. Sometimes lucky sometimes not. Always worth a walk through the door. This time looking for an address book having lost my 30 yr old one (very annoying). No address book but walked away with 6 mystery books by favorite authors published within last 3 years for under $36.00. Cannot beat their sliding price discounts. Service always helpful and friendly. Great neighborhood business.

Love the new layout, the coffee was amazing and used locally sourced flavorings. Definitely check it out it's a great spot to chill and read!
